Take A Leap And Experience The World Beyond Your Classroom
admin March 24 13
No matter your age or stage of life, taking a trip is always
a fulfilling and healthy experience. Travelers encounter other people,
cultures, languages, and lifestyles. You can see locations you`ve only ever
seen in movies or read about in novels. You get to experience novel flavors,
aromas, and sounds. The world is a map of the places you have already been and
the ones you still need to see.
This and more is what student travel is like. Since you
have a little different perspective on the world than the average person as a
student. Traveling as a student is more of an educational experience that
shapes who you are than it is a holiday. Your life experiences as a student
significantly influence your future self, your professional decisions, and even
the individuals you choose to spend time with.
Here are several explanations for the significance of
student travel.
Individual Development
Being adaptable is a sign of youth. How many young people do
you know that are certain of their identity and life goals? Perhaps you are
aware of a handful, but identity is a moving target, and there is no such thing
as an individual who truly understands who they are. As individuals, we are constantly
developing, changing, and evolving. This is especially true when you`re young
because you still have a lot of exploring and new experiences to look forward
to.
During this phase of your life, the experiences, people, and
locations you encounter have the potential to leave the most impressions on
you. Since you are aware of this, you have an advantage. By deciding to travel,
you actively contribute to developing your personality and becoming a more
globally familiar person.
Global And Social Awareness
You prefer to think of yourself as reasonably socially aware
as a student. You`ve penned enough essays about capitalism, colonialism, and
political system dynamics to be well-versed in the workings of the globe. It is
one thing to read about political corruption in densely worded academic papers;
it is quite another to witness it firsthand. Both have merit and are
essential.
You can appreciate the intricacies of political theories
when you witness firsthand the practical applications of all those theories you
have studied in class. You also get to give them a human face. You get to see
the faces of those most impacted, and you may even have the opportunity to
speak with them about their challenges. Whatever the case, you will have gained
far more insight than you could have with just books and papers.
Exposure To Experiences Of Higher Quality
Why is everything much more beautiful when you are not at
home? It`s because things have so much more power over you when you`re
physically apart from home. Being in a foreign place while traveling naturally
makes you more aware of everything around you, even things you might have
overlooked at home.
As a student, I find this especially true. Already, your
mind is assiduously absorbing, digesting, and internalizing knowledge to become
a part of who you are. Your political and philosophical beliefs are shaped by
what you learn in the classroom, which becomes a part of who you are. The same
thing occurs as you cautiously venture into the world outside of your own: you
are absorbing, internalizing, and shaping these experiences.
Getting Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Going somewhere new and unknown to them is a big step
outside of their comfort zone for many people. Therefore, even if they have
already stepped outside their comfort zone, doing so now feels manageable. You
are more willing to try things when traveling than at home. Skinny diving in
the neighbor`s pool? Not in a manner. However, there`s that "well, why
not?" factor when you`re overseas. I have to take advantage of the fact
that I am here. (Recounting personal experience)
However, this also applies to scenarios that won`t get you
wet and possibly cause difficulty. From easy activities like hiking a mountain
for the first time to tasting new dishes you wouldn`t ordinarily attempt. You
get into the habit of doing new things once you`ve taken the initial step of
visiting a new location.
Develop Your Resume
Let me make my most practical argument here if the preceding
has yet to persuade you. A study abroad experience looks fantastic on a resume.
It enables you to continue working while adjusting to a new setting. It may
even teach you a new language or new methods of learning. Employers can see
that you are a self-starter who can adapt to new situations and manage chaos by
having you study abroad. Studying abroad also allows you to broaden your
network, which may open up future chances in that nation.
You never know where life will take you. However, there are
ways to change course, and traveling is unquestionably one of them. Thus,
assume responsibility for your life. You have a say in the person you become,
the kind of career you have, and the people you encounter along the
journey.
